The Story Behind SUZUN BENNET Skincare

Suzun Bennet’s lifelong interest in wellbeing has always drawn her towards traditional, natural and plant-based therapies.

Her grandfather, Dr Francis Alexander Bennet, rose from modest beginnings as the youngest of twelve children to win a scholarship to study medicine at Edinburgh University, where he was awarded the University Medal. He later practised in Sydney and served on the Board of Royal Prince Alfred Hospital. Although he died before Suzun was born, his remarkable story was part of her family history.

In the 1970s, Suzun spent three years in London, working for Culpepper and managing a retail outlet offering some 160 medicinal herbs. Returning to Sydney, she undertook five years of full-time study in chiropractic and osteopathy, completing her studies while raising two young children. In 1982, she opened her first practice in Randwick.

Her creative interests later led to a Master of Art at the College of Fine Arts, UNSW, completed in 1994. That same year she founded the Kulini Wellness Centre in Bondi, bringing health, beauty and healing together under one roof. Her days began teaching practical yoga tailored to her clients’ needs, followed by her clinical practice and continued exploration of different approaches to wellbeing.

In 2001, Suzun followed another dream and moved to New York. She initially established the Australian Fine Art Gallery of New York before embarking on a successful career in Manhattan luxury real estate. New York became home for almost two decades.

By 2016, Suzun wanted to make something again. Her skin was becoming increasingly dry and the skincare she had relied upon no longer seemed to give it what it needed. Inspired initially by Evening Primrose Oil, she began experimenting with organic botanical oils, adding Jojoba, Rosehip, Calendula and Camellia and observing how her skin responded. Friends noticed the difference and began asking to try the blends themselves.

After returning to Australia in November 2020, Suzun realised that while she loved the nourishing serum oils she had developed, her skin needed hydration too. She began studying organic skincare formulation with Formula Botanica, learning how to create the beautiful emulsion that became the Ultimate Moisturiser.

SUZUN BENNET Skincare was founded in 2021, growing from years of curiosity, experimentation, observation and conversations with friends into a small, carefully considered range with a simple philosophy:
